Identification
Adults can reach a length of 44 cm for a weight of 395 g. Dark grey bill with barely visible dark red base on upper mandible. Plumage mostly grey, dark olive grey on back, wings and tail. Variable light pink tinge on most of head and breast.
Range and habitat
The species is endemic to Indonesia and in small islands, from the Java sea to northern Moluccas archipelago and most of Lesser Sundas. Lives in all kinds of lowland and lower hill forests, mostly on small islands, to 1100 m.

CITES : Not Listed
Status : The species occurs in islands where hunting pressure and deforestation can be major threats. It is still locally common but needs protection.
