Identification
Adults can reach a length of 48 cm for a weight of 802 g. Bright red naked skin around eyes. Plumage mostly grey turning rich brown on belly. Dark pink tinge on breast, white tail band. Subspecies with white edges on wing feathers.
Range and habitat
This subspecies occurs on Yapen island and in north New Guinea, from Geelvink Bay to Huon Gulf. Species found on New Guinea and nearby islands. Lives in most types of forests, wooded agricultural areas and mangroves, to 900 m.

Status : The species is at least fairly common within its range and shows sign of adaptability if enough fruiting trees remain.
