Identification
Total length of 32 cm for a weight of 220 g. The female is smaller, lighter and duller. Short broad tail, short wings. Coloration rich green with grayish-silver bands on wings. Male has yellow belly and a double collar on breast.

Range and habitat
This species is endemic to New Caledonia and the Isle of Pines. Mostly found in native forests but also open forests and wooded savannas.

IUCN RED LIST : NEAR THREATENED
CITES : Not Listed
Status : This species has a very small range and habitat destruction is a problem because of logging and mining activities. The species is also heavily hunted and trapped. Recorded in small numbers in protected areas.
