Identification
Adults can grow to 25 cm in length for a weight of 126 g. Wings mostly dark metallic green. Rest of plumage chocolate brown, darker on back and nape. Black tail. Bright red bill, males have white patch on forehead, female’s is grey.
Range and habitat
This species occurs in Sulawesi and Kai Islands, in New Guinea and its satellite islands, in Admiralty islands and Solomon Islands. Lives in humid and dry forests, forest edges and plantations, to 1300 m.

Status : The species occurs exclusively on islands but is quite adaptable and found in many protected areas. It seems to remain common to abundant.
