Identification
Adults can reach 34 cm in length for a weight of 198 g. Silvery bill. Grey belly, olive-green to dull green wings, back and tail. Rest of tail black, brown flight feathers and forehead. Bright yellow nape ending in a crest. Yellow chin (males).

Range and habitat
This subspecies occurs from south-east Thailand to south Vietnam. Species found in South-east Asia, from north India and south China to Sumatra. Lives in humid and dry forests with tall trees, from lowlands to 2750 meters.

Status : The species is widespread and common in most of its range except south China. It occurs in many protected areas and suffers from no threats.
