Identification
Fairly small araçari, reaching 39 cm in length for a weight of 162 g. Green wings, back and tail, red rump, bright yellow breast and belly. Male has black head, female’s is brown. Bill is red and yellow with black lower mandible.
Range and habitat
The species occurs in northern South America, from East Venezuela and the Guianas to northern Brazil. Lives in lowland forests, often near rivers, plantations, up to 800 meters.

Status : The species remains poorly studied but seems adaptable. So far it is quite common despite deforestation and trapping for bird trade.
