Identification
Adults can reach 48 cm in length for a weight of 290 g. Black head with large red naked patch around eyes, red collar on nape, dark green plumage. Bright yellow belly with red-black patch and band. Bill dirty horn-colored and black.
Range and habitat
The species is found in Central and South America, from South-east Mexico and Yucatan Peninsula to Panama, north Colombia and north-west Venezuela. Lives in wet lowland primary forest, secondary and gallery forest, to 1300 m.

IUCN RED LIST : LEAST CONCERN
CITES : Appendix II
Status : The species is still quite common and adaptable but its range is more and more fragmented with deforestation. It could become threatened soon.
