Identification
Adults can grow to 48 cm in length for a weight of 310 g. Black head with red eyering. Yellow breast with red and black breastband, green wings and tail. Very long horn-colored bill with orange base and elongated black markings.
Range and habitat
This species occurs in South America and is only found in western and coastal Ecuador, also in extreme north-west Peru. Lives in humid lowland primary forests, also cloudforests, plantations, up to 2200 m.

Status : The species remains locally common but has been declining extensively because of deforestation. May become threatened in near future.
