Identification
Total length of 17 cm for a weight of 59 g. Fairly large weaver with clear legs and black bill. Chin, breast, belly and undertail white. Black crown, white brow-like line, brown area from eye to neck. Brown back, black and white wings.
Range and habitat
The species occurs in eastern and southern Africa, from south-east Sudan, South-Central Ethiopia and South Angola to South Africa. Lives in open savannas with Mopane and Acacia trees, up to 1900 m.

CITES : Not Listed
Status : The species is common to locally abundant in many parts of its range, especially semi-arid areas. Recently colonized protected areas in South Africa.
