Identification
Large weaver with big black bill. Plumage mostly white to dirty white, orange-red rump and vent, black tail, black wings with white fringes. Subspecies with brown mantle.

Range and habitat
Subspecies occurs from eastern South Sudan to Ethiopia, south to northeast Tanzania. Found in dry savanna thornveld, bushland and grasslands, to 1400 m.

Status : Species safe and increasing its range in drier areas with sparse human populations. Very rarely caught for the trade, no threats are known at this time.
