Identification
Adults can reach 12 cm in length for a weight of 26.5 g. Most of wings and back green, red face and crown, green throat. This subspecies has blue belly and breast, yellow bend of wing and yellow collar on nape, orange-red head.
Range and habitat
This subspecies occurs at the base of the Andes, from Colombia to Bolivia. Species found from Costa Rica to Colombia, Guianas, Brazil, south to Bolivia. Lives in all kinds of humid forests, plantations and second growth, to 2100 m.

Status : The species has a large range and remains locally common. Some subspecies have highly fragmented range because of deforestation.
