Identification
Adults can reach 13 cm in length for a weight up to 27 g. Plumage jet black with light bright green face, dark blue throat and sky blue breast and belly, dark blue wings. This subspecies has orange to yellow rump (more extensive). It is smaller.
Range and habitat
This subspecies is found from Venezuela to Guianas and north Brazil. Species occurs from Colombia to Peru, west Brazil and Bolivia. Lives in high canopy of humid forests and woodlands, from lowlands to 1500 m.

Status : The species is common in most of its range and has a very wide range. It suffers locally from deforestation, especially within the Amazonian rainforest.
