Identification
Adults grows to 15 cm in length for a weight of 30 grams. Very similar to S. cayana but male clearer, with chestnut top of head. Belly washed violet-blue, light blue wings. Female greenish-blue with chestnut crown. Other subspecies darker.
Range and habitat
The species occurs in the Lesser Antilles, on St Vincent and Grenada islands. This subspecies is endemic to St Vincent. Lives in all kinds of forests, second growth, parks, gardens, mainly at high elevations.

Status : The species is locally common but has a very restricted range. Although it isn’t threatened at this time, it could become so at slightest disturbance.
