Identification
Adults can reach a length of 13 cm for a weight of 24 g. Small tail and short bill. Female is bright green with blue cap and nape, yellow belly. Male is brighter with black collar on neck, yellow breast and supercilium markings.

Range and habitat
This species occurs in Central America, in the central mountain ranges of Costa Rica and western Panama. Lives in the canopy and edges of cloudforests, from 900 meters to tree line.

IUCN RED LIST : LEAST CONCERN
CITES : Not Listed
Status : The species is qualified as restricted range and remains locally common in Costa Rica, declining in Panama because of deforestation.
