Identification
Black bill, bright yellow eyes, short tail. Head mostly black, iridescent blue nape, breast and wings with green tinge. Large white breast band, white rump. Belly bright chestnut-orange.

Range and habitat
East Africa, from southeast South-Sudan to Ethiopia and Somalia, south to central Tanzania. Found in open woodlands, cultivated areas, gardens and very arid country, to 3000 m.

CITES : Not Listed
Status : This species is abundant and well-known throughout its range. It is often found near and around human settlements. Occurs in many protected areas. Caught for trade but this isn’t a threat.
