Identification
Large starling species reaching 30 cm in length for a weight of 178 g. Wings and tail dark brown with white bands and mottling. Breast and belly dirty white, broad black collar from chin to lower breast and nape. Yellow naked skin near eyes.
Range and habitat
The species occurs in south-east Asia, from most of Myanmar to South China, south to southern Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam. Lives in lowland grasslands, cultivated fields and open dry forests, to 2000 m.

Status : The species has a large range and is very adaptable. Despite collection for the pet trade, it remains common and its range seems to be expanding.
