Identification
Black head with broad buffy supercilium and sides of crown, whitish throat. Orange-beige breast and clearer belly. Bright red rump and lower belly. Green and bright blue wings and uppertail.

Range and habitat
From east Myanmar and south China to Vietnam and south Thailand. Migrates (possibly breeds) to Sumatra and Borneo. Found in forests, plantations, scrub, mangroves and gardens.

IUCN RED LIST : LEAST CONCERN
CITES : Not Listed
Status : The species is safe and adaptable to slight habitat modification in most of its range. Hunted for food and captured for trade in Thailand and Indonesia. Status on Borneo needs clarification.
