Identification
Adults can reach 15 cm in length for a weight of 22.9 g. Long and pointed grey bill. Black crown and nape. Bluish-grey wings and back with black markings. Cheeks, neck, breast and belly snow white, brownish rump.
Range and habitat
This subspecies occurs in south and east Canada, south to Florida and Texas. Species found from central and South Canada, throughout USA, to Mexico. Lives in many kinds of open forests and woodlands, suburban areas, to 3200 m.

Status : The species has a wide range and is common where suitable nesting sites and habitat occur. The south-Florida population is close to extinction.
