Identification
The species grows to 29 cm in length for a weight of 182 g. Large bird with strong black bill and dark legs. Plumage olive-brown with fine white spotting on tips of wing feathers. Breast streaked, lower breast and belly yellowish-beige.

Range and habitat
This species occurs in coastal Vogelkop Peninsula and eastern half of New Guinea as well as coastal north Queensland, in Australia. Lives in forests, Eucalyptus woodlands, gardens, to 1700 m.

Status : The species is globally uncommon to locally common but this seems to be a natural trend of populations. It can adapt to habitat changes.
