Identification
Adults can grow up to 22 cm in length for a weight of 43 g. Long tail. Plumage black with bright orange-yellow cap and nape, thighs, rump and bend of wing. Long black bill, black legs and dark brown eyes.
Range and habitat
This species occurs in South America, north of the Amazon, from south and east Venezuela, Guianas to east Colombia, north Peru and north-west Brazil. Lives in forests, especially stands of moriche palms near marshes, to 1100 m.

IUCN RED LIST : LEAST CONCERN
CITES : Not Listed
Status : The species remains locally common, scarce around Venezuela. It is often trapped for trade in areas near villages.
