Identification
The species grow up to 28 cm in length for a weight of 70 grams, female being heavier than males. Stocky bird with dark grey-black bill. Plumage is globally dark grey, browner on wings and tail, and clearer on belly.
Range and habitat
The species is found in South America, from Colombia to Venezuela and Guianas, south to Bolivia and Central Brazil. Also Brazilian Atlantic forest. Lives mostly in humid forests, including flooded forests, up to 1000 m.

Status : The species is very widespread and can be locally common. It can tolerate living in different kinds of forests and doesn’t seem to be threatened.
