Identification
Adults can reach a total length of 12 cm for a weight of 10 g. Long, thin and slightly curved bill. Black legs. Brown belly and wings. Iridescent bright green head, nape and back. Lower breast iridescent pinkish-red to purple or violet.
Range and habitat
Scattered range around Central Africa, from Nigeria to DR Congo, Kenya and North Tanzania, south to Angola and North-East Zambia. Lives in grasslands, savanna, woodlands, forest edges, up to about 2000 m.

Status : The species is generally uncommon but doesn’t seem to be threatened. Most of its populations are stable.
