Identification
Largest leafbird with bigger and longer black bill. Black facial mask with faint dark blue line. Rest of plumage bright dark green. Female has yellow eyering and no facial mask.

Range and habitat
Subspecies occurs from south Myanmar and southwest Thailand to Singapore, Sumatra and Borneo. Found in canopy of forests, peatswamp forests, tall back mangroves, plantations.

IUCN RED LIST : ENDANGERED
CITES : Not Listed
Status : Populations are declining alarmingly because of habitat loss. Subspecies from Java is traded in unsustainable numbers and close to extinction. Targeted by conservation breeding program.
