Identification
The species grows to 19 cm in length, no weight measurements available. Plumage bright green, yellow-green on belly. Black mask and bib with blue-violet band, orange forehead. Subspecies with no yellow around black bib.
Range and habitat
Subspecies found in south China and nearby north Laos and Vietnam. Species is also found on Hainan island. Lives in canopy and edges of evergreen and deciduous mountain forests, to 2000 m.

Status : The species remains relatively common throughout its large range. It is heavily traded in some areas and also hunted for food.
