Identification
Small black bill, black cheeks and throat with dark blue cheek line. Bright green body with bright blue flight feathers. Subspecies with yellow head, breast and wash to flanks. Orange nape.

Range and habitat
Southeast Asia, subspecies occurs in south Thailand, Peninsular Malaysia and Sumatra. Found in canopy and edges of primary and secondary forests, orchards, to 1800 m.

CITES : Not Listed
Status : This species is relatively common but declining because of habitat loss, especially on Java. Trapped for the local and international trade in Thailand and Indonesia.
