Identification
Adults can grow to 23 cm in length. Round head with short and thick yellow bill. Grey head with black throat and forehead, white streaks on cheeks. White throat collar. Rest of plumage olive-green to olive-yellow, with grey tinge on back.

Range and habitat
The subpecies occurs in eastern Asia, in most of central, south and east China, extreme north Vietnam. The species is also found on Taiwan. Lives in open montane woodlands and secondary growth, sometimes near cities.

Status : The species is common in suitable habitat throughout its range and occurs in protected areas. It faces no known threats at present times.
