Identification
The species grows to 19 cm and 46 g. Mantle, back and breast dull brown. Dull yellow flight feathers. Belly cream-yellow. Black head with white throat, white nape and brown and white cheek patch. Subspecies with bigger nape patch.

Range and habitat
Subspecies found in central and eastern China to Korea, Hainan and Vietnam. Species occurs from Laos and Vietnam to east China and Korea. Lives in open woodland, shrubland, cultivated areas and gardens, to 500 m.

Status : The species is very common and has adapted very well to living close to human settlements and in big cities. It is expanding its range regularly.
