Identification
Adult males grow to 65 cm in length. Dark grey head, breast and belly, rest of plumage brown with small iridescent blue ocelli with a clear dot at the tip. Large iridescent green blotches on tail. Females have smaller tails and no iridescence.
Range and habitat
The species occurs in South-East Asia, mostly in central and northern mountain ranges of peninsular Malaysia and nearby extreme south Thailand. Lives in primary and old secondary mountain forests, from 820 to 2000 meters.

IUCN RED LIST : NEAR THREATENED
CITES : Appendix III
Status : The species has a small range and does not tolerate habitat modification. Its populations seem to remain stable but small.
