Identification
Body length of 115 cm with tail, total length of males 2,5 meters with ornamental plumes. Long green crest, metallic green neck and breast, darker belly, ornamental plumes green and blue, blue crown, yellow undercheeks. Female duller.
Range and habitat
This subspecies is endemic to Java, Indonesia (extinct in Peninsular Malaysia). Species also found from north-east India to Vietnam and south China. Lives in open woodlands, savannas, grasslands, forest edges, to 3000 m.

CITES : Appendix II
Status : The species is highly threatened by hunting and habitat loss. Its populations are heavily fragmented and very few are efficiently protected.
