Identification
The species is 70 cm long for a weight of 2.6 kg. Female rufous brown, blue skin around face, white feather-edges on belly. Male dark iridescent blue, large blue wattle around face, white streaks on flanks, white tail feathers.
Range and habitat
The species occurs in South-East Asia in Malaysia south of Isthmus of Kra and most of Sumatra (Indonesia). Lives in lowland and foothills primary forests, often close to rivers, to 1200 m.

IUCN RED LIST : VULNERABLE
CITES : Appendix II
Status : The species is only locally common and mostly so in protected areas. In most parts of its range, it is rare and declining, local extinctions reported.
