Identification
Grey legs, red facial wattles. Female grey-brown with white line on feathers, orange neck. Male of this subspecies with white ear patch, long red-orange hackles on neck and near tail.

Range and habitat
Subspecies occurs from eastern Thailand to central Laos, Cambodia and south Vietnam. Found in forests, mangroves, scrub, other habitats on flat or gently sloping terrain, to 2000 m.

Status : The species is adaptable and common but locally declining because of habitat loss, persecution and genetic pollution from hybridization and breeding with domestic hens and roosters.
