Identification
Plumage entirely ashy-blue, white tail with broad black tips to feathers. Ornamental fringes to flank and tail plumes. Red facial wattle, black crown, white chin with long moustache-like ruffles.
Range and habitat
From central and north-central China (Qinghai to Gansu, to Sichuan and Tibet) to inner Mongolia. Found in mixed forests and alpine meadows, from 2700 to 4400 m.

CITES : Not Listed
Status : The species is considered safe and can be found in big numbers in protected areas originally created for the Giant Panda. Declines have been reported but no causes are known.
