Identification
The species can reach 43 cm in length for a weight of 148 g. Large black bill, long racquet-tipped tail. Plumage mostly green with a slight reddish tinge on upper back and breast. Black mask. Light turquoise blue crown edged black.
Range and habitat
The species occurs in Central America, from south-east central Mexico to Yucatan peninsula, south to northern Panama. It lives in tropical rainforests, woodlands and plantations up to 2150 meters.

Status : The species has a fairly large range and remains common in many parts of it, including several protected areas. Can adapt to degraded habitats.
