Identification
This subspecies usually reaches around 2 meters in length, often less. Unmistakable with its dark grey-black ground coloration with a yellow-white spot on each scales. Diamond-shaped white markings on back, broadly edged with black.

Range and habitat
This subspecies occurs in eastern New South Wales and Victoria. The species also occurs in New Guinea, east and south Australia. Lives in dry forests mostly near rivers and running water, rocky outcrops and dry woodlands, mostly in lowland.

IUCN RED LIST : LEAST CONCERN
CITES : Appendix II
Status : This species isn’t considered threatened in the wild. Some populations are declining, mostly because of destruction habitat (overgrazing).
