Identification
This species reaches up to 2 meters in length. Long and broad head. Coloration olive brown becoming yellowish on flanks and sides of head. Head scales edged black. Intricate dark brown markings on first half of body on back and flanks.

Range and habitat
This species occurs in south-east Asia, on lesser Sundas islands of Flores and Lembata. Probably absent from Timor itself. Lives in semi-dry forests and woodlands, grasslands.

IUCN RED LIST : VULNERABLE
CITES : Appendix II
Status : This species has a reasonably large range and used to be common. It is trapped in fairly big numbers for local and international trade and also suffers from pressure due to habitat loss (road building, clearing of habitat for agriculture, urban expansion).
