Identification
Adults can reach up to 75 cm for a weight of 1.4 kg. Male has a fantastic iridescent green, yellow, blue and dark red plumage. Its combs are bright pink and blue, becoming bright red on face. Female is dark brown with white throat.
Range and habitat
The species is endemic to Indonesia and occurs on Java, eastwards to Lesser Sundas Islands of Flores, Alor and Sumba. Lives in inland forests, coastal areas, forest edges near plantations, to 2400 m.

Status : The species remains common in most of its range so far but suffers for over-collection for pet trade and hybridization with domestic fowl.
