Identification
Adults can reach a maximum length of 6 cm. Dorsal and anal fins are greatly elongated, especially for males. Ground coloration is cream-yellow, fish being slightly transparent. Some flank scales are silvery. Eyes are bright red.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in South America and can be found around the Lake Valencia basin in Venezuela. Lives in slow-moving waters and shallow lake waters with lots of vegetation.

Status : The species’ status has yet to be assessed by IUCN. Although its range is small and species still targeted for trade, it is believed to be fairly common.
