Identification
Body length of 23 cm. Males display extraordinary coloration, ranging from red to green or turquoise with dark vertical bands and broad white or clear longitudinal band on flanks. Females are more brown. Warty ridge on snout.
Range and habitat
This species is endemic to Madagascar and occurs in north-east and eastern parts of the island. Introduced to Reunion and Mauritius. Lives in open degraded forests and scrublands, plantations, vegetated roadsides.

CITES : Appendix II
Status : This species is locally abundant in the wild and can withstand degradation in its habitat. It is still often collected for pet trade.
