Identification
Adults can reach a total length of 5.5 cm, females bigger than males. Medium-short snout. Coloration is rufous-brown on back with dark reddish longitudinal bands on sides of back. Flanks are cream with dark mottling and spotting. Cream lips.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in far south-eastern Asia, in South-East China and Taiwan. Lives in lowland and montane moist forests, rivers, marshes and ponds.

Status : The species is apparently common to abundant in most of its range but could become threatened by logging activities.
