Identification
Adults can reach a total length of 30 cm. Very long cylindrical body with greatly elongated snout. Unmistakable. Coloration is greenish yellow with whitish-grey spots on flanks. Leaf and algae-like skin extensions on flanks and head.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in extreme east Indian Ocean and west Pacific, from Irian Jaya (New Guinea) to west Australia and Queensland. Lives in coral reefs and rocky reefs with floating algae, down to 16 m.

Status : The species has a fairly small range and remains uncommon except in some areas with perfect living conditions.
