Identification
Adults can reach up to 13 cm in length. Large head with huge mouth, body looks fat and round. Coloration mostly bright green to dark green with numerous dark brown blotches on most of its back and forehead. Small horns above eyes.
Range and habitat
The species is found in South America, occurring from South Brazil to Uruguay and northern half of Argentina. Lives in grasslands and croplands, usually near temporary water.

IUCN RED LIST : NEAR THREATENED

Status : The species still has a wide range but is declining worryingly because of over collection for the international trade and persecution.
