Identification
Adults can reach a maximum length of 46.5 cm. Small rattlesnake with long head. Coloration is grey or beige-brown with pinkish-brown longitudinal band on back and transversal dark brown to black bands on back and flanks.

Range and habitat
The species is found in Central America and endemic to Mexico, occurring south of Mexico City and in north-west Morelos. Lives in steep volcanic slopes with pines and clumps of grass, from 2900 to 3300 m.

CITES : Not listed
Status : The species has a very small range but occurs in two well protected areas comprising most of its range. No known threats at the moment.
