Identification
Body length of 110 cm, shoulder height of 70 cm, weight of 32 kg. Small upwards-oriented pointed antlers. Fur is globally reddish, becoming browner and grayer on legs, neck and around head. Underparts white.
Range and habitat
The species occurs in central America, from central-eastern Mexico, south to Panama and North Western Colombia. Subspecies found from Mexico to Guatemala. Lives in mostly found in well-preserved humid forests, up to 2800 m.

Status : This species is so poorly known from the wild that assessing its status is very difficult. Probably vulnerable to hunting and deforestation.
