Identification
Adults can reach a length of 2.34 m for a weight up to 10 kg. This particular subspecies is distinctive with its pinkish-grey to pinkish-brown ground coloration and almost entirely black blotches on back. Tail striped brown and black.

Range and habitat
This subspecies occurs in Tlaxcala, Puebla, Veracruz and Hidalgo in Mexico. Species also found in Southern USA, from California to Texas and in north Mexico. Lives in arid and semi arid areas, from grasslands to woodlands, up to 2350 m.

IUCN RED LIST : LEAST CONCERN
CITES : Not listed
Status : The species has a large range and seems to remain at least locally common. It isn’t known to face any threats at the moment except persecution.
