Identification
Adults can reach a length of 1 m, generally less. Very wide triangular head. Coloration is creamy grey to beige-grey with fine speckling for some specimens and light brown blotches extending into transversal bands on back.

Range and habitat
The species is found in North America and occurs from South California and western Arizona in USA to north Baja California and Sonora in Mexico. Lives in open woodlands and scrubland in arid to semi-desertic areas.

IUCN RED LIST : LEAST CONCERN (as C. mitchellii)
CITES : Not listed
Status : The species is probably still fairly common where its habitat isn’t disturbed but it might be threatened by urban expansion and over-collection.
