Identification
Adults can reach a length of 16 cm. Very slender cylindrical body with elongated head and tube-shaped mouth. Entire body covered with fairly thin transversal yellow and brown bands. Tail fin red with yellow spot and white edges.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in the western Pacific Ocean, around Sulu Archipelago and off northern Australia. Often found on muddy bottoms, around isolated coral colonies, down to 44 meters.

IUCN RED LIST : LEAST CONCERN
CITES : Not Listed
Status : The species has a fairly small range and is targeted for international trade. Despite these possible threats, it seems to remain common.
