Identification
Adults can reach a maximum length of 68 cm. Elongated triangular head with large temporal band. Coloration beige-brown to dark grey-brown with squarish dark blotches on back. Some specimens also have small white blotches.

Range and habitat
The species is found in Central America and endemic to western Mexico, in the Jalisco and Nayarit states. Lives in open pine-oak forests, grasslands and pastures from 2500 to 4500 meters.

IUCN RED LIST : LEAST CONCERN (as C. triseriatus)
CITES : Not listed
Status : This newly splitted species hasn’t been assessed yet. It has a fairly small range but remains at least fairly common throughout.
