Identification
Adults can reach a maximum length of 68 cm. Stout body and slightly elongated triangular head. Scales are keeled but have smooth appearance. Coloration beige with brown blotches on back and flanks. Light brown temporal band.

Range and habitat
The species is endemic to Mexico and occurs in the central highlands of the country, in Veracruz, San Luis Potosi, Hidalgo, Querétaro and more). Lives in primary and secondary montane forests and grasslands, up to 3110 meters.

IUCN RED LIST : LEAST CONCERN
CITES : Not listed
Status : The species has a fairly small range but is known to be locally abundant. It is vulnerable to habitat loss and eventually persecution.
