Identification
Adults can reach up to 2 meters in length. Slender-bodied shark with relatively flat back. Coloration is light grey with clearer lower flanks and belly. Pectoral fins edged with black. Small black area on nose.

Range and habitat
This species occurs in the western Atlantic Ocean, from North Carolina to Caribbean Sea and Gulf of Mexico, south to Brazil and Uruguay. Lives in continental shelf, over coral reefs and sandy bottoms, down to 64 m.

IUCN RED LIST : ENDANGERED
CITES : Appendix II
Status : This species has experienced local declines, particularly around US coasts because of fisheries (direct targeting or indirect, dying caught in nets).
