Identification
Adults can reach a total length (tail included) of 80 cm and a weight of 200 g. Coloration emerald green with broad turquoise bands on flanks and diagnostic turquoise band behind head. Crest spines are also longer. Red eyes. Nostril scale bright yellow, yellow encompassing the whole scale and sometimes parts of the scales nearby, nostril has a roundish shape. Female duller.
Range and habitat
This species is endemic to Fiji Islands in south-central Pacific Ocean, and occurs in Ovalau, Kadavu and Viti Levu. Introduced on Vanuatu. Lives mostly in wet forests, rarely dry forests, up to 500 m.

IUCN RED LIST : ENDANGERED
CITES : Appendix I
Status : The species is declining everywhere in its range because of habitat fragmentation and predation by introduced species. Local extinctions occur.
